I was thinking of this the other day when someone asked if I would donate something. Now I don’t donate when asked. I donate when not asked. I feel that if you donate when you are asked then you are not truly altruistic, and I also believe that most of us are most of our lives. Therefore I send money when not asked, donate clothing when not requested, and raise canned good collections when not expected. It’s not something special just something I do.
Some people have started calling this paying it forward. I would rather call it Karmic Banking. Whenever we do something that feeds our soul by feeding someone else’s we are depositing to our Karmic account. Depending on why or how you deposit will depend on how much interest you collect when you need a withdrawal, which we all do at some time in our lives.
So when you are out there trying to find what makes you happy and fulfilled remember that what you do may also lead someone else to be happy and fulfilled. Take a few moments and visit the Karmic Bank. Make a deposit and watch how your interest grows. Remember: it’s the only bank you don’t need to remember your PIN.
